Maggie-May & Sister, Anna Lou...(My attempt to write a Short Story)

Maggie-May
She was once a young girl that ran freely and swiftly like the wind.. No matter what she did, or even how she did it, Maggie-May always got carried away. She was rough and tough, and could outrun even the most devilish boy on her street. In fact, Pleasant Street was the one and only Street in Pleasant Bay. If you happened to be unlucky and wander off that Street, well, I guess it is safe to say, “you were travelling at your own risk.”
There were mostly boys living on that street and Maggie-May and her sister Anna-Lou were the two most popular girls for they knew what it took to be able to participate and be a member of the “Boys Only Club.” Both sisters one day decided they were no longer getting left out of all fun that seemed to be going on in that boys club that Duncan Elliot was running. It had been stated that absolutely no-one with long hair could be a member, and thus meaning, good luck to any girls getting through.
Anna-Lou and Maggie-May were hurt when Duncan, Clayton, Allie, Aubrey, and Donald that Summer decided they no longer wanted to play with girls. And, the sisters felt the impact of being cast away like a punch in the gut.
“If it weren’t for that darn Duncan, Anna-Lou, we’d still be allowed to go hunting for frogs and looking for trouble with the rest of the gang. He is just a big fat bully with a big fat ass,” said Maggie-May.
And it is true, Duncan did have one of the biggest butts known of for a ten year old. His Mamma had been feeding him homemade bread a swine rind from the moment he could eat and chew real food. It showed.
“Yeah, Maggie-May, he sure is a fatso, but what are we to do? We can’t have him keep us locked out and shun us from hanging with the boys. We’ll go sheer mad from boredom this Summer if they won’t let us play. Good grief! What can we do?” said Anna-Lou sounding desperate and hopeless.
“We’ll just have to outsmart them, is all,” said Maggie-May.
“Right! And, just how do you suppose we can do that Maggie-May?” said Anna-Lou.
“What?! You don’t think we can? Come on now Anna-Lou they are just a bunch of boys being boys, and surely they will miss us too much to not let us in as long as we obey some rules. And then once we’re in we can make the rules,” said Maggie-May with hands on her hips.
Anna had been flopped on her bed, but after seeing and hearing Maggie-May’s determination, she too jumped up and took the stance of command.
“Well alright Maggie-May! Let’s do this! What’s it gonna be?” said Anna-Lou looking to her sister in a newfound energy.
Just as Anna-Lou asked Maggie-May what they would do, Allie, Aubrey, Clayton, and Donald were whistling loudly walking by their house and the girls both ran to the open window.
“Well now, will you look at that, Anna Lou? There’s the gruesome foursome without their high and mighty fat assed leader!” said Maggie-May to her sister and loud enough for the boys to hear as they both bent down to rest their elbows on the window sill.
The four boys looked to the window and stopped in their tracks. They huddled in together and whispered something to each other, but then started walking again.
“What gives?! Cat got your tongues?” asked Maggie-May in as saucy a way as she could possibly blurt out.
“Allie? I can’t believe you are gonna let Duncan be the leader? All those times he stole your lunches and picked on you because you are tall and slim, unlike him. How can you just forget about that stuff, huh?” asked Anna Lou.
“And, you Clayton? What about all the times he tattle-taled on you? He was the reason you got a can of whoop ass every time from your Pa, huh?” asked Maggie-May.
“Donald? Aubrey? I suppose you two are just gonna forget he got you guys in detention for cheating on tests in Miss Nelly’s class when it was him doing the cheating?” asked Anna Lou.
And although the boys heard them, they just kept on walking.
“Harrump!” said Maggie-May as she stood up from the window.
“How dare they just ignore us!” said Maggie-May.
“And, they don’t even have Duncan with them to blame it on him!” Anna Lou spoke as she was getting up from the window sill.
But, she didn’t easily get to her standing position, no, she bumped her head, causing a flow of profanity flying from her tongue. But, while doing this she spotted Duncan hiding in the bush obviously keeping an eye on the boys to make sure they were following his rules.
“Duncan! You get your fat ass self out from behind that bush before I get Old Jack after you!” said Anna Lou referring to their family Rottweiler.
Everyone that was anyone knew to be afraid of Old Jack, especially should he get loose from his backyard chain.
That was all Anna Lou had to say for Duncan to flee running to catch up to his boys.
‘That’s it! We are doing something about this right now!” admitted Maggie-May who was seething with rage.
The girls found the boys’ new clubhouse. It was tucked in behind the gas bar a little ways down back, but the girls were like hound dogs and they easily sniffed them out.
Standing in front of the door to the boys’ new hideout, both sisters wearing cowboy hats, with feet apart and hands on hips were the picture of two gun slingers without the holsters and guns. They were indeed a pair of mean-looking machines and anyone going to mess with these sisters were gonna take a beating.
“Duncan?! You get your fat assed self out here right now!” exclaimed Maggie-May
‘That’s right! We hear you in there trying to hide! You bunch of cowards! Thought yas thought girls are weak and nothing to fear?!” said Anna Lou.
“Go away! We don’t talk to sissy girls anymore,” shouted Duncan.
“Yeah, get going get with yas!” said the rest of the boys.
“NO!” shouted both Maggie-May and Anna Lou.
“You guys get out here right now! We have every right to be a part of this club, now haul you scaredy pants selves out here at once!” said Maggie-May.
Slowly the door to the hide out opened, and starting with Duncan the boys lined up in front of the hideout as if blocking the way in.
“You are trespassing. Now get out of you, you’ve no right to be here,” exclaimed Duncan with his arms folded in front of his chest like the big bully he is.
At that point both girls looked to each other, then at the same time reached up and took off their cowboy hats to reveal their walking ticket into the boys club.
They were gonna hear it from their parents but the short hair sassy style just gave them every right to put them boys in their place.
